The “Lost World” has been unlocked, and the secret, no doubt, is out, Carnival 2019 in Guyana is set to be epic.
Based on the beautifully tailored and colourful costumes presented by mas-designers at the launch of the show, anticipation levels have definitely increased. The show itself is set for the weekend of May 17-27 here in Guyana.
Just one Saturday ago, the parking lot of the Giftland Shopping Mall on the East Coast of Demerara was transformed into a carnival-like atmosphere where both local and foreign mass designers displayed their unique and “eye popping” costumes.
The bands that launched their costumes were Genesis and Pulse, both known for their skimpy and stylish costumes.
During the show, models showcased the ease and flexibility of wearing the costumes by going beyond the usual strut down the catwalk, instead, they gyrated and danced to popular carnival songs, showing patrons just how easy it would be, to slip into the wonderful world of “masquerading”

For the much anticipated show, there have been collaborations with designers and promoters from New York, the United Kingdom, Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Guyana.
The show itself is a privately owned festival in Georgetown, an amalgamation of entertainment bodies, the Government of Guyana and other key stakeholders.
The event, to boost tourism, entertainment, and nightlife in Guyana, is expected to attract thousands of tourists, locals and carnival chasers.
